BOOK FAIR, BOOK FAIR, BOOK FAIR! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

The McLean Elementary will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair on September 18th through the 20th in the Activity Room.

The book fair is an annual event that Mrs. Freda Holland, the school librarian, organizes to promote reading. All proceeds will benefit the school by purchasing several Accelerated Reading books. The book fair will include everything from pencils, chapter books, and even cookbooks.

A tradition that occurs every year is Family Night, which will take place on September 19th from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Family Night includes refreshments, door prizes, and a special guest, Clifford the Big Red Dog! Children will be able to have their picture taken next to the well known character. During school hours, the fair will be run by volunteers that include several grandmothers in the community.

Mrs. Holland invites everyone to the fair and advises everyone to remember, “The more you read, the more you know.” When asked what her opinion of the fair was, Jessi, who is a first grader, replied with, “It’s cool.”

“So, don’t frown and come on down to the Book Fair coming soon!” - Clifford the Big Red Dog
